About
Sally. Look familiar? Sound familiar? Audiences in the West Midlands will certainly think so. The ever popular Sally Haines has memorably fronted many bands proving, as if she needed to, that both her unique and expressive voice and stage presence are firmly in the premier league of stage doyens. Sally never stops working, perfecting and exceeded all expectations and the crowd love her for it. Dedication and talent? We call it Sally!
Her capacity for working in diverse music styles is quite remarkable. Even more outstanding is that she is successful in all of them. There can be few vocalists that work with blues, rn’b and soul bands who have also had personal citations from principal soloists at Covent Garden and Bucharest State Opera as well as the many other professional players she has worked with. You could say she is on a voyage of musical discovery; she loves what she performs but, as she aptly puts it: “I just like whatever appeals to my ear or soul.”
Sally knew she was destined for music and the stage from a very early age, learning from a close relative who just happened to have top ten hits as composer and performer. After paying her dues with several bands in London and the West Midlands she headed off into the theatre, touring with small companies as both actor and principal singer. This invaluable experience led to a spell as a presenter on community radio as well as a degree in Drama. All the time, the ever active Sally was still singing with bands, writing material, recording and gigging with musicians on her wavelength.
The unstoppable Sally Haines has steadily nurtured her own solo 'Girl with
Guitar' career in many venues in and around Birmingham as well as being
familiar and featured artist in Birmingham Pride. This is a finely wrought
and applauded performance that puts a unique spin on familiar material but
is generously peppered with her own memorable songs and, of course, her
unique vocal ability.
You can also catch Sally in performance with Gospel Central and Shine - two acts that showcase her in gospel, blues, soul and contemporary pop styles.
